		<description>Thanks for the information on creating a Bonsai from my lovely Seiryu Japanese Maple.  I've a Beni Komachi Japanese maple as well and plan to create a Bonsai  from each by "air layering".   If I understand correctly, I'm taking a small limb [vertical] and removing the bark from about 1/2" in length, wrap sphagnum moss around the 'wound', soak it well in water and cover with clear plastic, taping at either end for several months while the roots form.  After about 9 months or a year, remove the clear plastic, remove the sphagnum moss, gently trim the roots [?] and plant in a pot with proper soil.

Can this be done any time of year?  Do I need to use root growth hormone to get the roots started?  Thanks again for a very interesting article.  :)
